What Our Families Say
Building a Brighter Future Together
Fatai Ligali
APK Royal City Family
Academics PreKindergarten Royal City has been an amazing experience for our child. The teachers are warm and attentive. We have seen incredible progress in both his social skills and academic development.
Our little one usually takes a while to adjust to new environments, but since starting at Academics PreKindergarten, we have noticed remarkable improvements in his communication and independence. He is always excited to share what he did that day, and the daily reports from the school give us a great idea of what his day was like.
The school itself is clean, organized, and well ran. The healthy meals they provide each day are a huge relief for a busy family like ours. Overall, it has been a great early childhood experience, and we would highly recommend Academics PreKindergarten to any family considering PreK in the New Westminster area.

Academics PreKindergarten Royal City has been an outstanding partner in my daughter’s early learning journey—professional staff, clear communication, and rigorous academic standards all around.
I can’t say enough good things about this daycare. From day one, the team demonstrated true professionalism: punctual drop-offs and pick-ups, well-organized classrooms, and teachers who are both warm and highly skilled. They’ve created a structured environment where my daughter has flourished academically while still feeling completely at home.
Communication is seamless. Weekly newsletters detail lesson plans, upcoming themes, and even snack menus, so you always know what’s happening and can reinforce learning at home. If there’s ever a question or concern, the directors and teachers respond promptly by email or phone, and I appreciate their proactive updates on my daughter’s milestones and social growth.
Academics PreKindergarten’s curriculum is top-notch. They blend hands-on science experiments, early literacy activities, and math explorations in a way that keeps kids engaged and curious. My daughter’s readiness for kindergarten is a direct result of their thoughtful lesson planning and individualized attention.
In short, five stars without hesitation. If you’re looking for a daycare that pairs true professionalism with heartfelt care and stellar academics, Academics PreKindergarten Royal City is the gold standard.

Last year, my daughter started academic pre-kindergarten. Almost a year has passed since she started attending school. Within that year, she has learned and enjoyed a lot.
Her teachers, particularly Lily and Juanne, are really good with kids. They are so gentle with them. In addition, the principal and front desk staff, as well as all the other teachers are really lovely and love children very much.
The staff feels like a family to kids. I want to mention about the chef who is a kind and caring guy. My daughter really loves him.
Last but not least, I strongly recommend this school to anyone looking for a preschool that empathizes with skills, disciplines, and development of children this is the right place to choose without any doubt.

Hello, my name is Young. I hold a BA in Education from the UK and a Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Canada. I bring over 20 years of experience working with children from infancy to high school. I also have 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist and Humanitarian Aid worker, supporting children and families with emotional well-being and resilience. I am passionate about creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child can grow, learn, and flourish. I believe that children are our future – capable, curious, and full of potential. I feel truly privileged to play a role in their crucial early years, helping them build confidence and a lifelong love of learning.
I joined Academics PreKindergarrten North Vancouver in June, 2022 where I truly enjoyed my time as an educator and an administrator. I am excited to continue this journey at APK Royal City.
Outside of work, I love hiking, going for long walks, and enjoying water sports such as swimming and scuba diving. These activities help me stay grounded and remind me of the beauty of exploration, curiosity, and balance – values I also hope to inspire in the children I work with.

New Westminster Preschool – Royal City Location
New Westminster has a lot to offer, with its waterside views and neighbourhoods filled with historic character. This former capital of British Columbia is a great place for families and for those with young children. Our New Westminster – Royal City location is ready to serve you. Whether your little one is just starting to walk and talk or almost ready for kindergarten, their preschool time at Academics PreKindergarten will prepare them for the road ahead, mixing fun with learning in a safe, engaging and secure environment.
An Introduction to Learning with enriched Preschool
Many years of school and learning await your child. Laying the best possible preK foundation will help them get ready for kindergarten and everything that follows. Academics PreKindergarten introduces your child to structured learning environments where they will develop the ability to focus and interact with others through a licensed childcare facility that focuses on learning.
You may think of PreK in terms of slightly older children, your 10-month-old is learning every day and our Academics EDGE curriculum guides them on using their 5 senses to understand their environment. Our daycare facility offers baby programs through to preK education. A baby’s basics of communication are already developing, so proper words begin to be emphasized for familiarity to strengthen vocabulary.
Our New Westminster Preschool is fun and engaging
Everything around your child is new and fascinating as they learn to interact with people and objects. As your child grows, we focus on their social skills and emotional self-control, with activities in the classroom that help them learn about relationships and getting along with others. Language skills will continue to improve with their vocabulary expanding rapidly, allowing for the creation of more complex sentences and improved ability to express themselves in a conversational manner.
Creating a Love of Learning & Licensed Childcare in New Westminster
Your child is naturally curious and wants to learn. Helping them do so at this age not only provides them with what they want, it encourages a love of learning that can last a lifetime. Learning should be a rewarding experience, not one that involves stress or discomfort.
Our experienced Early Childhood Educators will use your child’s own interests to keep them engaged so that they will answer questions while asking questions of their own. Working on their own or with others, your child will become an active participant in their own education, through interactions with others, playtime, and more structured learning. As a licensed childcare provider we can tend to all your child’s unique needs and enrich their learning through engaging activities.
The Future Begins Now
Your child is naturally inclined to learn everything they can about the world around them. This curiosity must be encouraged and developed as it will help drive their future academic success. A child that hasn’t developed a solid foundation by the time they reach kindergarten may have some difficulty reaching their full potential.
At Academics PreKindergarten – a New Westminster Preschool, we are a licensed daycare and provide the highest quality of prekindergarten education available. We are devoted to preparing your child by developing the necessary skills and lifelong learning mindset to excel today, and in the future.
Frequently asked questions
What does a child need to know before entering preschool at Academics PreKindergarten?
Before entering preschool here at Academics PreK, a child should be equipped with a few fundamental skills and knowledge that will help them transition smoothly into a structured learning environment. Here are some key areas to focus on:
- Basic Social Skills: Children should have some experience interacting with peers and adults outside of their immediate family. This includes sharing, taking turns, and understanding basic manners like saying “please” and “thank you.”
- Self-Help Skills: Preschoolers benefit from knowing how to perform simple tasks independently. This includes washing hands, using the toilet, and putting on their shoes and coat. Encouraging independence in these areas boosts a child’s confidence and helps them adjust to a classroom setting.
- Communication Skills: A child entering preschool should be able to express their needs and thoughts using simple sentences. Understanding basic instructions and being able to communicate with teachers and classmates is crucial for a positive preschool experience.
- Basic Cognitive Skills: Familiarity with shapes, colors, numbers, and the alphabet gives children a head start in preschool learning. Recognizing their own name, understanding simple patterns, and having basic counting skills are also beneficial.
- Emotional Readiness: Preschool can be a big step emotionally. Children should be prepared to spend time away from their parents and should be developing the ability to manage their emotions in a group setting.
By focusing on these areas, parents can help ensure that their child is ready to thrive at AcademicsPreK, setting the foundation for future academic and social success.

Is Academics PreK the same or similar to Montessori?
While our “Academics EDGE” program shares the Montessori emphasis on fostering independence and holistic growth, it differs in its structured, teacher-guided approach that specifically targets readiness for formal schooling. We offer a distinct approach to early childhood education through our “Academics EDGE” program, which sets it apart from the Montessori method while still incorporating some similar principles:
- Structured Learning Environment: The Academics EDGE program is designed to provide a balanced and structured environment that helps children develop critical academic and social skills. Unlike the Montessori approach, which is more child-led, Academics EDGE offers a curriculum that is guided by educators to ensure that each child meets key developmental milestones.
- Comprehensive Skill Development: The program emphasizes a well-rounded preparation for school, focusing on early literacy, numeracy, and social skills, ensuring children are ready for the challenges of kindergarten and beyond. This contrasts with Montessori’s broader focus on self-directed exploration.
- Personalized Attention: While Montessori education allows children to progress at their own pace, Academics EDGE also emphasizes personalized learning. Teachers assess each child’s progress and provide targeted support to help them achieve their full potential.
- Holistic Growth: Similar to Montessori, our Academics EDGE program values the development of the whole child. However, it does so within a more structured framework, ensuring that each child gains the necessary skills and confidence to excel in a traditional school setting.
