What Our Families Say

Building a Brighter Future Together

Ardeshir Ghadimi

  • My son has been attending this daycare for 3 years now. These people are so kind, attentive, generous, and detail oriented. I feel grateful and humbled by their level of care and attention and for all they have done for my son over the years.

They truly care about the kids and parents.  Every time we have approached them about a suggestion, they have treated it with utmost importance and implemented changes that were beyond our expectations.  Not only are they professional business people who run this place perfectly, but they are great human beings who truly care and give much more than they take.  Thank you to all of you great people who take care of our son.  We will always be grateful and this place will have a very special place in our hearts.

  • Our daughter was very shy, as a consequence of growing up in the covid era. She would not interact with other people or other kids. When we put her in the Academics on 15th street, she really blossomed and is more outgoing

We tried a Montessori daycare first and she did not like it there and would not stop crying.

When we put her in the Academics on 15th street, she really blossomed and is more outgoing. This is all due to the wonderful teachers who give her individualized attention and care. We highly recommend Academics to any parents looking for a daycare for their child!!

  • It was such a pleasure to be a part of Academics PreKindergarten family and by saying that I really mean you feel like a family. In this daycare parents are heard and seen, which is really important when communicating about your child.

Our daughter loved every day there. Teachers are so kind and genuine and going above and beyond to offer the best support possible. It was really sad to say goodbye but our daughter was well equipped with skills and knowledge she received to transition into a kindergarten smoothly. We are now in French School, adapted faster than ever as we took some French classes here. Highly recommend Academic PreKindergarten North Vancouver!

An Introduction to Learning

We can help you lay the best possible foundation to prepare your child for kindergarten and an eagerness for life long learning. PreK introduces your child to structured learning environments where they will develop the ability to focus, follow instructions, and interact with other, develop their vocabulary, and increase their social skills.

Childcare options range from Baby daycare to PreKindergarten programs

While you may think of PreK in terms of slightly older children, your 10-month-old is learning every day and Academics PreK helps them use their 5 senses to understand the world around them. The basics of communication are already developing, words begin to be emphasized for familiarity and surrounding children with familiar faces and routines are valuable in the preschool environment. The world is a fascinating place for babies and toddlers and we are ready to help stimulate their senses and brains to help them learn to interact with people and objects.

My name is Angel. I have a two and half year old child. I graduated from Simon Fraser University with a bachelor degree in Business Administration. I obtained my ECE Assistant certificate from Sprott Shaw College. I do believe early childhood education is the most valuable investment for each family, and I commit myself to teaching and taking good care of your children. Working with kids has always been my dream job. For me, the most amazing experience would be watching all the children in our school grow in great happiness!

IVY CHeN

School director in training

Hello! I hold a degree in Economics from UBC, and have earned both Early Childhood Education, and Infant and Toddler certificates from Capital College. I have experience in a Children’s English Learning Center, a Montessori School, and a Play-Based daycare, and built upon my teaching philosophy with these experiences. Throughout my career I have gained experience working with children of many different age groups.

I proudly joined Academics Prekindergarten in Fall 2021 as a lead teacher and am excited to become the assistant director this winter. By growing up with the school and all the lovely children, I look to provide a healthy, happy environment and experience for our families and community.

In my spare time, I enjoy reading, playing piano, hiking and cooking with my family. I am a firm believer that early childhood education is a key factor for a child’s future success in both school and life.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does a child need to know before entering preschool at Academics PreKindergarten?

Before entering preschool here at Academics PreK, a child should be equipped with a few fundamental skills and knowledge that will help them transition smoothly into a structured learning environment. Here are some key areas to focus on:

    • Basic Social Skills: Children should have some experience interacting with peers and adults outside of their immediate family. This includes sharing, taking turns, and understanding basic manners like saying “please” and “thank you.”

    • Self-Help Skills: Preschoolers benefit from knowing how to perform simple tasks independently. This includes washing hands, using the toilet, and putting on their shoes and coat. Encouraging independence in these areas boosts a child’s confidence and helps them adjust to a classroom setting.

    • Communication Skills: A child entering preschool should be able to express their needs and thoughts using simple sentences. Understanding basic instructions and being able to communicate with teachers and classmates is crucial for a positive preschool experience.

    • Basic Cognitive Skills: Familiarity with shapes, colors, numbers, and the alphabet gives children a head start in preschool learning. Recognizing their own name, understanding simple patterns, and having basic counting skills are also beneficial.

    • Emotional Readiness: Preschool can be a big step emotionally. Children should be prepared to spend time away from their parents and should be developing the ability to manage their emotions in a group setting.

By focusing on these areas, parents can help ensure that their child is ready to thrive at AcademicsPreK, setting the foundation for future academic and social success.

  • Is Academics PreK the same or similar to Montessori?

While our “Academics EDGE” program shares the Montessori emphasis on fostering independence and holistic growth, it differs in its structured, teacher-guided approach that specifically targets readiness for formal schooling.  We offer a distinct approach to early childhood education through our “Academics EDGE” program, which sets it apart from the Montessori method while still incorporating some similar principles:

    • Structured Learning Environment: The Academics EDGE program is designed to provide a balanced and structured environment that helps children develop critical academic and social skills. Unlike the Montessori approach, which is more child-led, Academics EDGE offers a curriculum that is guided by educators to ensure that each child meets key developmental milestones.

    • Comprehensive Skill Development: The program emphasizes a well-rounded preparation for school, focusing on early literacy, numeracy, and social skills, ensuring children are ready for the challenges of kindergarten and beyond. This contrasts with Montessori’s broader focus on self-directed exploration.

    • Personalized Attention: While Montessori education allows children to progress at their own pace, Academics EDGE also emphasizes personalized learning. Teachers assess each child’s progress and provide targeted support to help them achieve their full potential.

    • Holistic Growth: Similar to Montessori, our Academics EDGE program values the development of the whole child. However, it does so within a more structured framework, ensuring that each child gains the necessary skills and confidence to excel in a traditional school setting.
