Within all the daily noise and the rush of limited time, very often; we don’t listen.
Remind yourself of what it’s like to converse with someone who talks incessantly. Consider how that feels, almost always I feel impatient, anxious and restless to leave. Those conversations drain us, silence us; we give up and withdraw.
We rush from school pick up, grab a snack, make it to practice, get homework out of the way, eat dinner and get to bed on time. We ensure all the things on our plate as parents; work, bills, personal stresses, household tasks are handled.
Take time to think about the words you use, find time to be present, be aware of your tone. How do you feel while you speak to your children?
